Had your fill of rising Gas Prices? How have the rising gas prices affected you? Did you have to skip a vacation? Do you ride your bike to work? Have the rising prices of food affected your family? We want to hear your stories of how this real problem is affecting real people. Submit comment now!
"Let's start a petition against Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House. She's got me right down mad. I know there are others out there that feel like I do! Congress is on my bad side! Let's see, they took their paid vacation, wouldn't vote a up and down vote for the energy bill -- that's two strikes -- Now this terrible bill I'm glad the House didn't pass it we need a more responsible bill stop with all the add ons Congress! Let's not bail out but work out! Let's petition for Nancy Pelosi to step down!"

"Wont do any good with the greedy oil companies."

"Question? Why is there never any national attention given to the fact that 60% of the new cars purchased in Europe are diesel? The mileage difference between gas and diesel is substantial.New diesels are clean, quiet, and powerful.Virtually every manufacturer of automobiles has a diesel available in europe including our own 'Big Three'.There would be an immediate conservation of fuel as most of these cars approach or excede hybred models mpg. This is not mainstream news as the oil companies do not want this to be common knowledge."

"I certainly hope that Congress doesn't think it has pulled the wool over our eyes with this "lack of" Energy bill it just passed. By limiting the drilling to beyond 50 miles off shore, they are taking away the quickest, surest supply of oil that we could make available. This bill will do NOTHING. With the economic crisis that we are facing today, we need to fix our energy problem, and get off of imported oil. We are sending billions of dollars annualy to the Middle East - KEEP IT HERE. I can afford to buy a Prius, and I can conserve by limiting my driving, and riding a bicycle, but the poor "Joe" down the street, needs to drive to work to support his family. I cannot believe the the Democrats, who have always said they are the party of the working people, have left them in the lurch when it comes to fuel prices. He cannot affort to buy an electric car, or a fuel cell car, he need GAS and he needs it now! With all due respect to the environmentalist, and I care about our planet, we need to get our priorities in order. They say we need to get off of our oil addiction - we need to get off of our IMPORTED OIL addiction. We need to explore all sources of energy and conservation, but America needs fuel, we need it now, and we have it here."

"Did you realize if we drill for oil today, we will not see any differnce in the prices at the pump for 10 years. This is not the solution. This will not solve our problems today. I am a real person with real problems, I can't even afford to buy food or go anywhere. People don't be fooled by this propaganda. Don't you know that the current president and vice president are oil man and Mr. Mccain has oil lobbists working in his campaign. We need to regulate the oil companies and quit giving them big tax breaks."

"This sight shows such a lack of respect for the earth that keeps us all alive that it sickens me. Lets just drill till all the oil is gone and all our wild lands and oceans are tapped, but hey it will be worth it to save some money right, cause thats whats really important. Can't we look to a better long term solution now. I mean, we'll eventually have to anyway right?"

"I retired two years ago after working at public work for FORTY FIVE years. Forty two and one half years with the same company. It looks like if a person works this long and never received any special benifit from our government they should be able to travel some before they get too old. Gas prices have kept us from going on short vacations that we had planned for. Our leaders keeping us from drilling do not have a clew what it is like to work as an average citizen for average wages and support a family. Want an economy boost! Get gas prices down where people can afford to travel some and they will spend money. Drill, Drill, and start TOMORROW. Thanks"

"With all the new findings of oil sources in the country, including the little known "slow volcanoe" let us get out of energy dependence from other countries. Let us tap and develop our resources and at the same time create jobs for our own people, not for the illegal aliens who are draining our economy."

"Yes, gas prices went up and it hurt the wallet... so what do we do, freak out and decide to continue the road of dependency on a finite energy plan, that in the long run will cost us more and leave us more dependent. It's time we stood up and act to change our interpretation of what it truly means to be independent of fossil fuels. The country of Denmark was able to break it addiction, what are we waiting for?"

"The real reason for high gas prices is the amount of speculation that accounts for at least 30% above the actual market price! Drilling will not help drop prices just stop future speculators."

"I am a grandmother, helping my daughter and grandaughter, ll yrs old. The gas crunch has, along with the rising food and other prices has forced me to stop my land line phone and only use my cell. It has caused me to not be able to travel around as usual and hindered my purchasing my grandchild and myself clothes etc as usual. It has effected me, detrimentally, in many ways; as well as my son's small Plumbing Buisness. It is scary. Keep up the good work; and may God bless you, and bless the U.S."

"It is time for a legal revolution and we must watchout for our freedoms. We citizens must realize that "We are the Boss" and we have to act like it. We must be remember that the constitution says "We the People". Congress works for us whether they like it or not. Since the Democrooks do not want to follow what We "the boss" have to say i.e. "drill here drill now" Fire them!! We coservatives need to stick together."

"I would love oil prices to be lower, but the facts don't support the notion that more drilling will dramaticly reduce the price at the pump. "

"I work for a Propane Co., my question is, what are the elderly and sick going to do for heat? If we do not start drilling here, to lower prices, how are the elderly and sick going to stay warm, eat and buy gas to go to and from the doctor on $600 per month, the heating assistance offered by the state helps, but does not buy even half the propane they need for the winter, I know several that do not have any family that can help them, if for no other reason, please drill to help them. They can not afford high gas prices, which increases the cost of electricity and they are not physically able to use any other type of heat source."

"Hello there, I live about 30 miles N. of Panama City and i am so FED UP with the people here who live on the beach. As a lot of you know there is one of the biggest oil finds just off the Fl. coast here. The problem we are having is that those people who live on the beach " think they own the beach! " This is no joke, a few years ago Bay county put it on the ballot to see if the people in the county wanted to drill off the coastline. I hate to say this but because of the snow birds it was denied! There reason why is " they don't want anything to mess up there beaches. Well hello and wake up. It is " We the tax payers of this county that foot the bill each time a hurricane comes in and we have to pay for there beach renourishment program. Talk about waisting tax money, let the beach take back what is there's to start with. Here is something else no one talks about but i hear this from a friend who lives in Fargo, ND. There is another huge oil find in ND. yet they will not drill it. I say drill everywhere we can. And lets stop importing it."

"Harry Reid says oil is killing us. Not true. Stupid americans who follow bias news media (CNN) are killing us. Quickest way to get oil, drill a democrat..."

"I am one Californian who believes we SHOULD drill off the Pacific coast. What most who are concerned about ruining our "pristine" coast don't realize is that the oil derricks are to be situated so far off-shore that they won't be visible to those on the beach. There is no threat of new rigs marring the view. Also, the improvements in construction and transportation make it highly unlikely that there would ever be a repeat of the spill off the coast of Santa Barbara that sparked the ban in the first place. The facilities in the Gulf and off the eastern coast withstood Hurricane Katrina and other fierce storms without incident. God has blessed our country with abundant natural resources--oil is one of them. We can be good stewards of our resources. Enough already! Let's get started!"

"I use my pickup truck for work in New York City, and I had to pay $6.00 per gallon of diesel the other day, $180.00 to fill it up. How the heck can I survive with this extreme prices? I am sick of both parties. The President should veto all legislation coming to his desk, until congress approves more drilling, not only offshore but all over the nation. Come on Mr. President, show some guts and represent us. Show some lidership and shutdown the government if necessary, use your veto power already and pound some sense into the liberal bastards running the congress. I want to see calling them what they are, irresponsible and fanatics, they will destroy our way of life if you don't stop them! Let's go Mr. President, show some "COJONES" and take action, we will support you ALL THE WAY! The planet has been cooling down since 2001, tell them career politicians that Global Warming is just a hoax and begin drilling for oil already. You are doing good defending America overseas, come on Mr. President, lets pound some sense into the environmental bastards running the congress. They dont care if we have to pay $10.00 for a gallon of gas or milk. Lets drill already, so my children dont have to pay $100.00 per gallon of gas when they grow up."

"I am a Civil War Re-enactor, Historian and a battlefield employee. I live near a mountain so 4X4 trucks are all I own except for my wife's car. I don't get paid much, but more than half of my check goes into Gas. Re-enactments have gotten smaller or canceled because people can't afford to drive long distances. I was a victim of the mortage mess as so was my wife which both of us were laid off and although we both got new jobs, the pay scale is not what it nearly was. We had to hit our stock from our old company to pay for Oil in the winter and also the gas in the summer. After that is gone we will not have anything to land back on. Thank you Congress for helping to keep the mess going. To those in congress that stayed behind during their vactaion thank you. Don't feel bad, I can't afford a vaction."

"Now they are telling us that by drilling now won't help us NOW!! Well If they had gotten their act togethert "ten years ago" or even earlier, we wouldn't be looking at this 10 years from now crap. So if we don't drill now, when will we? We not only have to DRILL NOW but also put our technology to work and make us self reliant on all forms of energy!! The Trillions of dollers we are spsending now is going to other countries and in to the hands of those who don't really like us, and is being used on buying weapons, with our own dollers, to kill our citizens with."

"This is about as silly as it comes! Do the research drilling here and now will do nothing to off set the oil prices! Prices are up for the following reasons: 1) the dollar is weak (but improving, hence prices are coming down again) 2) Global demand has increased (India and China learned to drive and have a middle class that can afford cars) 3) Our refining infrastructure is WEAK, even if we had more oil from drilling we can't turn it to Gasoline with out more refineries. 4) The impact is MINIMAL. We use 25% of the worlds oil, and only produce 3%. Do we really think we can make up 22% difference 5) Limit the speculation on Wall Street (notice how quickly the prices dropped as commodities traders started selling their shares) People stop believing every e-mail or what the media says and do some research!"

"I own a landscape company and have three trucks, I had to fill all three today as they just happened to be near empty on the same day. One was $118.00 another $115.00 and the third, thankfully only $80.00 That was the way I started my work day, with a loss of profit. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful to have work but I can only imagine what single parents that work at minimum wage must be feeling. I say vote every one of our elected officials out of office. I am voting against all incumbents in November. And by the way, Obama sounds just like Fidel Castro in 1959, asking for change. Beware what change he is talking about, we may all end up paying $8.00 a gallon for gas and who knows how much more in taxes. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, drill here, drill now!"

"I run a cattle ranch in West Texas. The price of oil has caused fuel costs to increase, fertilizer has gone up, cost of seed has gone up, cost of animal feed has gone up. We can't make ends meet anymore. When that happens, guess what, we stop producing beef and food crops. When that happens, Americans get hungry and the rest of the world gets hungrier. You can talk alternative fuel all you want. You want to protect the environment, ok. You want to eat? You want to live? We need reasonable fuel (diesel and gas) to run our equipment, a wind turbine isn't going to run that tractor we use to plow fields, plant and harvest food crops, haul our beef to market, etc. We need inexpensive fuel. That will come from reasonably priced oil. The only way that is going to happen is to expand our exploration efforts. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. SORRY. The democrats want Americans to drill on "millions of acres already available for drilling", ok, is there any oil there????? We have to drill where the oil is or we end up with a dry hole. The American Cattle herd is declining. The cost of a good steak is going to be sky high soon. Food costs at the store are higher than then've ever been because it costs more to produce that food. We let it happen, we put people in office that cater to their political ambitions, don't feel the pinch you and I feel and don't care about me, you or this country. Unless you eat grass, you aren't going to like what is in store if we don't take action now and develop an energy policy that will ensure affordable fuel and food for our citizens for years to come."

"Don't drill, don't build more "freeways". Wind and solar are free. Drive less, better city planning, more mass transit, plug in hybrid electric vehicles. We are going to run out of oil. It is used in all kinds of things. If we rush to drill more, our grandchildren won't have any. Produce energy from wind and solar!"

"If we want to have an fairly quick effect on lowering gas prices then lets open the spicket of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. For longer term we should be asking for some guarantees of lower prices should we drill off shore or anywhere on our public lands for that mater. If the goal is really to lower prices for we citizens of the United States then any oil extracted on any of our public lands should be SOLD and USED within our country. No doubt any oil that would be extracted from off shore resources will find its way onto the open market and we citizens will have to compete with other countries (China & Japan come to mind) to buy our own oil. If the additional oil does not lower the price of gas like we are being promised then oil companies, who are making record profits, should contribute in the form of a windfall tax that will be used to lower the price of gas for everyone."
