"Since we employ the Congress, and they are not actively pursing resolution, I would like to see their salary docked until they resolve the problem. Perhaps, pain in their pockets (as most Americans are feeling) will enact an expedited approach to resolving this crisis. After all, 'We the People' employ Congress."

"I will be making it my mission, this voting season, to vote for that person that has energy sense, and not energy STUPIDITY! We need to take advantage of all our energy sources NOW, and also step up our efforts on alternative energy. Their is a reason why Congresses popularity is at an all time LOW, and energy is a big reason. They have consistantly acted stupidly, and even with this huge problem, most still are."

"I have a small Toyota Corolla and it costs me $ 40. to fill up. I have various trips to the doctors that I have to make. I have had to cut out almost all visits to family. I live on a fixed income and have a balanced budget. I have had to give up things I love because of the cost of everything going up. I expect no less from our Government. They have no clue how we live down here in the real world. I don't expect free hand outs but I would like to be able to live on what income I have."

"It is hard for me to believe or understand; that as the greatest country in the world, this is the best energy philosphy. Our great nation will someday soon be nothing more than a begger within the world community."

"I'm retired living on a fixed income and very much feel the pain of high energy prices BUT drilling is not the future for our country. New oil takes years to bring to market. Oil companies are sitting on thousands of acres of oil leases they are NOT drilling. We need a plan with short-term, intermediate term, and long-range solutions that we can give to our children and grandchildren. Someday all the oil will be gone. Let s start TODAY to move to a sustainable energy policy that uses what this great country has sun, wind, fertile ground that can be turned into energy AND stop global warming."

"We don't mind paying the price for gas IF it is necessary. What we are paying now is simply because of a hand full of speculators."

"We need to open up drilling efforts offshore and the contiguous USA. There is plenty of oil. Congress needs to address the American peoples' problems! High fuel costs effect every aspect of our daily lives. Congress needs to penalize oil companies for not building new refineries."

"The United States needs oil NOW. Europe, China and other countries need oil NOW. We have oil; Let's start drilling NOW. We are losing our leadership in the world, because we are depending on other countries for a neccessity (right now) in our lives. If they lost our demand for their oil, they might lose control of fighting a war. We need to find other ways for engery as soon as possible. Consider a tax deduction for less engery users. I am all for fewer cars on the highways and more trains. Let us take a stand for our rights."

"Republicans can win back the House and Senate if they backed "Drill Here, Drill Now". Even Democrat Americans understand the need as they fill their tanks. We need nuclear power, wind, and solar AND we need to drill. Be Bold! American should be energy independant in 25 years. Completely."

"No one has talked about the number of jobs drilling for oil in America would create. Also; in the 80's OPEC flooded the market reducing the price of oil so much that it did't pay to drill in the U.S.. That's when the enviromentalist got their foot hold. We need to tap all our energy resources with a goal to become energy independent, not just oil."

"As far as I can tell, for the first time in US history, the US government, led by Grandma Pelosi, has chosen to place an oil embargo on the citizenry of the US. I assume this is a way of helping Obama get elected by making us all so miserable we will be happy to embrace the extreme socialist change/wealth redistribution he is proposing to shove down our throats. For the past several months, I have watched the "disposable" part of my income being disposed of into my gas tank. It's amazing to me that our government believes it has a right to manipulate and direct how we live by denying the citizens access to crucial commodities. Denial of this crucial commodity will destroy businesses (large and small), impact family life and leave us vulnerable as a nation. I have to wonder when they will start the Pelosi youth groups for girls and the Obama youth groups for boys. I am very disgusted with the lies, the posturing and the self-righteousness of people elected to office - both sides of the aisle. I understand that the last thing people in power want is an independent citizenry - they are too hard to control and it poses a threat to their own positions of power. And, last, on what constitutional provision are oil companies prohibited from providing needed commodities? Why do they have to beg for permission to do what is their constitutional right and is also right for this nation and its citizens? What happened to promoting the general welfare?"
