Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less.

Had your fill of rising Gas Prices?

How have the rising gas prices affected you? Did you have to skip a vacation? Do you ride your bike to work? Have the rising prices of food affected your family? We want to hear your stories of how this real problem is affecting real people. Submit comment now!

"I know you won't post this, but I'm saying it anyway. When will you people realize that it's not our dependence on FOREIGN oil we need to lessen, it's our dependence on ALL oil? Drilling in ANWR isn't going to fix our problems. We need to work harder to get new, efficient, clean energy sources that won't destroy the earth, like solar and hydrogen. Yes, it's going to be uncomfortable for a while. Yes, you might have to ride a bike to work (and you act like this is a bad thing--our second biggest problem, after fossil fuels, is obesity!). And you might have to buy off-brand Cheerios for a while. But ultimately, the health of this planet is EVERYONE'S responsibility, not just those you call "tree-huggers." Please enjoy editing this for "clarity and length."

"Yes, I am sick and tired of the prices of gas so drill in the Gulf of the Alantic and the Pacific."
Richard Z.
Clare, MI

"Yes, drill now in the millions of acres alrady authorized. Please tell me why we need to rush to go to sensitive areas when the non sensetive areas have not been drilled?"

"I'm a senior citizen and have everything that I need to be comfortable. But, it hurts at the pumps when your on a budget. My greatest concern is for my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and YOURS. If American started now, developing and using every resource we have in our own country we would be dependent free of foreign oil in this country in a short time. It's time to stop taking and complaining and start taking action. Speak up America."
Eleanor
Calhoun, GA

"Rising gas prices are affecting my work and personal life. I am cutting back on other expenses to pay for the gas I need. I was already biking to work, now I bike everywhere possible. However, I do not think that more drilling for oil is the solution. It is time that we admit that fossil fuels are a limited, non-renewable resource. They WILL run out eventually, and this economic crisis should be a wake-up call for our country. We already have the technology to use other sources, but our government needs to support these options as much as it subsidizes oil, by building the infrastructure. If we gave the same resources to solar power as we currently give to oil and gas, solar power could provide 100% of the country's energy. This is possible today, the technology is there, other nations are doing it! We lack only the political will. The irreversible damage that will be done to our environment to extract the last few barrels of oil is not worth the short-term benefit. Let's try a real, sustainable solution, which will, by the way, create new jobs in this country and reduce our dependency on the Middle East and Venezuela.?"

"It's time we remind the politicians who they work for. We don't put them in office to do what they want to do. We put them in office to do what we want them to do. I think our only chance is to get all republicans and democrats out of office and lead the country libertarian style."

"I'm a native Floridian.Line the oil rigs up every 1/4 mile apart and line the coast with them from Panama City to Jacksonville. The fishing and scuba diving will only get better!"

"It seems that quite a few "politicians" in D.C. are pandering to a few extreme groups rather than fulfilling the constitutional obligation they took. They are ruining our country in an effort to maintain their current status. Their actions are nearly treasonous. In the last two years the leaders of this group, Pelosi and Reid, have accomplished little to nothing. This after a promise they would lead the hardest working greatest congress ever. It is time to replace these "politicians" with statesmen who will serve the people who sent them to congress. Our country needs energy help NOW. The way to cure our country is to use the resources God gave us now as we look for longterm solutions. Also, we need to vote out the politicians and vote in statesmen--true servants of the prople."

Gas prices these days are crazy. We need to be more like the french and run our homes etc. on nucler energy. And drill on our own land...maybe alaska?"
Kyle L.
Friendswood, TX

"Everyday the congress has a lower rating then the president. HARRY REID runs the Senate Speaker Pelosi runs the House every time they give a proposal , I can shoot holes in it without much thought. Like the profit, the pollution, the leases....I can go on and on. When I call and write my Maryland leaders I get the same BS and run around. No doubt the alternatives we have all discussed will work over time. That is the key word over time. We need drilling NOW!"
Ed F.
Owings Mills, MD

"I manage a grocery store, needless to say prices have been going up weekly. It seems few people pay attention to news, but they do pay attention to prices. Many people feel it's the President's fault, which shows their ignorance to the real issues. While the President and the Republicans spent money like Democrats, price increases are not their fault. This is a "Free Market" Society, would people rather stand in lines for toilet paper or bread like the former Soviet Union residents did for decades ? Regulations will only make things worse. Americans need to pay attention to what their representatives in the House and Senate are doing, at quit re-electing these idiots. They are doing nothing for the people of this country. We should insist on term limits. They get a max of 2 terms to work "for the people" then they are done, period. The President should be extended to "two" six year terms. That would actually give their policies time to come to fruition. When Bill Clinton took office, Ronald Reagan's policies where just taking effect, and Clinton took credit for it."

"I am voting straight Republican ticket in November. Maybe that will send a message if we all vote out any Democrat that is against drilling offshore. How much higher will gas prices have to go before this Democratic Congress gets the picture?"
Rebecca P.
Kingsport, TN

"What are the Democrats waiting for. Drill Here Drill Now. DO NOT WAIT until oil is obsolete, then decide we must pay someone to pump the oil out of the ground and dispose of it as hazardous waste, Although it sounds like the perfect Jobs Program for a Democratic Platform."
Frank S.
Norfolk, VA

"Since drilling for oil won't lower the price of gasoline for eight years. Let's just leave the price of gas at five dollars and use the $800,000,000,000 we get from selling oil to reduce the federal debt!"
Bill M.
Asheville, NC

"This has become a national security issue, folks. We must become energy independent from the nations that hate us! We drain our economy of billions annually to finance those who want to kill us. And the Congressional democrats are their enablers. Just imagine those hundreds of billions of dollars staying home each year. We'd be saying "what recession?" We'd be rolling in economic prosperity. Come on,it's a no brainer: responsible off shore oil exploration, Anwar, oil shale, nuclear, and refineries in the short term; then the shift to solar, wind, and renewable energies for the long term. We can do it all-- we're the USA! We're waiting Congress, and we WILL hold you accountable!"
David T.
Denver, CO

"Before I let anyone drill anywhere I want a guarantee that we are going to get the oil. I dont want to find out later that they've sold the oil to China or India. Where is the guarantee!"
BB
Baltimore, MD

"Gas prices are awful. House prices are falling. Airlines are in trouble. Drill now and all these problems will be helped."
Mary
Eloy, AZ

"I'm sure this won't be published, but I think it's hysterical how you are all blaming the "current congress" and how it's tied our poor Presidents hands, right, ahhh, if I remember correctly for most of our poor Presidents 8 years of ruining this country, it was a Republican controlled congress, but we have a nice way of forgetting that don't we?"
John
Allentown, PA

"I think it is about time someone hears the American people and will be our voices. As for my self I have had my fill of depending on foreign oil. It is here and we need to drill. Our country needs to become self-sufficient and keep our money here. I travel from state to state, insurance adjusting and the coast of gas is an outrage. Also the news is only pushing Obama. All you here are Obama, Obama, Obama and I am sick of it. You would think he is the only candidate there is. I thought there should be equal airtime. I am proud to be an American and Obama scares me to death."
Phyllis H.
Celeste, TX

"I now specifically blame Nancy Pelosi of the Democrats for blocking ANY vote on oil drilling. Nancy Pelosi's solution? Tap into our stategic reserves! Well, how is that going to work out if war breaks out between Iran and Israel, shutting down most of the oil supply? How would we run our ships, planes, tanks, etc to defend ourselves. I truly now believe that the Al Gore groupies WANT our gas prices to go up to over $5.00 as Al Gore was quoted as saying. This is so stupid, non-stategic and so arrogantly sided-focused. We need REAL people running this country who have an idea of what WWII was like; who have an idea what it's like to run a small business or run a family with skyrocketing costs. If we are left defenseless, you can lay it on Nancy Pelosi."
Sher O.
Round Lake, IL

"Disruption of the supply of Diesel Fuel would be a disaster as it is the life of the Construction, Transportation and Farming Industry. Without it there will be no gas at the filling station, food at the grocery store, or supplies of material at the factories. (No Jobs). Solar Panels nor Windmills would be practical to operate a Freight Truck or a Diesel Electric Locomotive. Natural Gas or LP Gas as a substitute is not an answer as it was tried 60 years ago by Reo Truck and some Farm Tractors. The cost of replacing the Diesel Engines in existing equipment would be tremendous. We need our own supply of oil now. We cannot depend on Forein Oil. Drill Now."
Don G.
Waynesfield, OH

"Treason - to kill or injure the sovereign or his family. The Democrats in Congress are injuring the sovereign and his family with their blockage of energy production. May their way be turned on their own head!"
Jwier
Warrior, AL

"I don't know if it is true or not but Gull Island is being totally ignored. Why? Let's work on alternative energy but we do not have to suffer this way."
Shawn
Delta, CO

"I am really tired of hearing how new drilling won't help us now. With the price of oil hitting all time highs on a regular basis, does any one but me realize waiting another decade to do something is a national disaster in the making?"
